I am still working on the Cavalier serial number dating system (separate thread), but have now expanded to try for a serial number system for Elkhart Band Instrument Company (EBIC). This was during the NRA period when manufacturers were supporting the Govt program to keep works on the job. I think there is some plausibility in this as Conn had significant control of Buescher at the time and it was the depression era.

Thus I am thinking Pan American made the valve block, while Elkhart may have finished the tubing (receiver lead pipe) and bell (4-3/4 Vs Pan Am 4-5/8). Please note, this serial does not fit Elkhart serials for the time period (1930's), but does fit the Pan American series. While I don't have a catalog for Windsor models like the Ludwig Standard, the Elkhart trumpet serial 94877 does appear in the brochure I just received. Thanks to both ConnDirectorFan and Brassman64. Trumpet is engraved “Built By Buescher ELKHART-IND. The serial number on the #2 cylinder dates. Find great deals on eBay for Buescher Trumpet in Brass.
